Legend-DARY Night of Randomness

The other night we had a movie due back and Tim, Amber, and I were all pretty tired. Tim was so tired in fact that he was passed out on the couch. So I talked Amber into coming with me so I didn't have to go alone. We got the movie returned and were just about back to the house when Amber said that she'd really like some ice cream. I thought that was a great idea so we made a detour to hit up Dairy Queen! The only problem was... it was just after 10:00 pm and they were closed! No worries, Nielsen's Frozen Custard was just up the street. Even though the drive-through light was on, they were closed too. Since we're still young and adventurous, we decided we weren't going home empty handed so off we went past Arctic Circle... Coldstone... and somehow ended up at Krispy Kreme? Haha. Who can pass up Krispy Kreme really? So we got a dozen doughnuts! But we still wanted ice cream... and just before making a left turn back home, Amber remembered Sonic! So we made a right instead and drove through at Sonic where Amber finally got her ice cream sundae and I got a breakfast burrito and slushy! I love the USA!! So after that, we finally went back home where both Tim and Jeremy were still sleeping soundly. Haha. What a great night. As our friends Jake and Kristy would say: "Legend... DARY!"

iPhone #4

I don't know what the deal is, but apparently I'm really hard on my iPhones. The first one last about 2 months until one day it completely froze up. I took it to the Apple Store and no sweat, here's a new one. This one lasted just over a week before the silencing switch snapped off. Add VideoA gentle reprimand from the Apple Genius, but again, new phone. #3 had the longest run of all! I've had it for a good 8 months at least. That is, until a few weeks ago it too started down the sad road of malfunction. It started with the iPod randomly skipping songs and trippin out. Then it was the screen blanking out every so often. Then the volume wouldn't work, I wouldn't be able to answer calls, it would shut itself off... So after putting it off for over a week, I finally scheduled my appoint back to the Apple Store. Unfortunately for me, I was about 15 minutes late and missed my appointment. The appointment lady told me that even though it was 5:15, the next appointment wasn't until 7:10! Bugger! Well, I didn't want to drive down there for nothing, so I decided to wait at least until my one hour of free parking expired. I waited and waited and waited... No breaks to let me in. I almost left about 5 times, but something kept telling me I should just wait until my hour was up. Well, just as I was about to leave, the schedule lady told me I could squeeze in! I explained to the Genius what was going on and instead of trying to sort it out, he said he'd just snag another one for me after checking my warranty. He pulls up the serial number, moves closer to the screen, eye brows raise, and says: "Did you know today was the last day of your warranty?" I had NO idea whatsoever!! So I left with a new, and my last, free iPhone. Talk about lucky... The funny thing was that right after I found out I'd missed my appointment, I sent the following text to Amber: "What's up with my luck lately?!" Guess it's not so bad after all... Here's hoping #4 is gritty! So far so good after Jeremy dropped it on the floor after talking to Grandpa and Grandma... (Don't worry, it was in its protective case!)

Another Answered Prayer

A few days after my near death experience at the hands of the elderly, I'm back at work again, this time in Logan. I drove by Maddox Restaurant on the way there and I couldn't get those succulent rolls and raspberry butter out of my mind. By 1:00, I was starving and still had some work to do at the house I was at and couldn't leave. I walked outside to get something out of the van and just as I was thinking about how much I'd love to have something to eat, I opened my mouth to yawn and a bug flew into it. Gulp. So there ya go, answered prayer. Just goes to show that the Lord knows the thoughts in our minds, the desires in our hearts, and always provides a way...

(I tried to find a good picture for this post, but my search for images "bug in mouth," "eating a bug," and "bug flies in mouth" made me more disgusted than inspired. Trust me, nothing good came out of that image search. Yuck.)

Elderly Road Rage

So last week I found my life in peril while driving down Main Street in Farmington and Centerville. Texting and driving? No. Drinking and driving? No. Elderly and driving? YES! So here's what happened: I'm driving back to the office and I pull up behind an extremely slow moving car going 25 mph in a 40 zone. I'm really not trying to stereotype, but... it was a woman with handicapped plates... Haha. So I'm just enjoying a nice "stroll" down Main when a car comes up behind me and starts riding my tail! And when I say riding, I mean RIDING MY TAIL!!! The car behind starts weaving back and forth as if its going to pass me on the shoulder or median and I'm starting to get pretty mad. Then I notice that it's a really old man who can barely see over the wheel and oh yea, HANDICAP PLATES! I was surrounded. It was in this moment that I thought of pulling down a side street or off to the side, but this guy was tailing me so close that if I hit my brakes he would've plowed into me for sure. So there I am in the handicapped gauntlet of death. Well the old man starts flashing his lights at me so I start flashing my brakes and apparently he'd had enough. He flew around me into the median, gave me a nasty look, further floored the gas, and laid on the horn as he passed the old woman in front of me. Now for most people, this would have been enough, right? Not for this old geezer. He swerved sharply right in front of the blue hair in front of me, completely cutting her off and nearly running her off the road! I'm not even kidding. It was the most insane thing I've ever seen while driving. Maybe it was free pancakes at Denny's? Spare ribs day at Chuck-a-Rama? Sale on prunes at Smith's? Who knows. Apparently the old man had to pee or something. Sigh... another day, another near death experience at the hands of my elders. Word.
