Strange title? Yeah... Well, that just about sums up the events of the week that was when all of our family came to town! But it was also an absolutely amazing week. What brought all of us together? Amber's family came to town for a family reunion of sorts and that's pretty special considering that Hael and Krista live in Alabama, David and Sharee live in Texas, and Doug and Amy live in California. My family was in town for the yearly dental convention. So we had plenty of family to go around! We really had a great time with everyone. Jeremy really enjoyed getting to know his cousins and it was amazing how much his vocabulary increased! The only downside was that the kids, and most of the adults, were sick most of the time. Nothing too serious, for the most part. What started as colds and runny noses, though, turned into fevers. It hit the little guys the hardest. I don't think I've participated in that many blessings since my mission! But the power of the priesthood was there in the home and miraculously the fevers went away we were able to enjoy the week, especially the temple.
One year ago in January, David was baptized. Rob and I were able to go down to Texas to give him the Melchizedek priesthood, and now here they were, ready to go to the temple. It's really hard to think of anything better than this. I wasn't able to be around when any of the families or individuals I taught on my mission went through the temple, so this was extra special. It was so awesome to be there with David and Sharee as they went through the temple for the first time. And as amazing as it was that day, the next day was even greater to be there with their entire family as they were sealed together for eternity. Seeing those children dressed all in white with their parents in the temple brought tears to my eyes and indescribable joy. This is what it is all about. This truly is the greatest blessing our Heavenly Father has given to us, the opportunity to be with our families forever, even beyond death. I missed Amber's dad a lot this week, but I knew he was there, near Mom the whole time. What a blessing to be a part of this. I don't think I could ever have imagined a more amazing family to marry into.
It was really hard to see her family go, especially because we don't know when we will all be together again at the same time. We did get to do a lot together, though. David and I even got to go out and shoot stuff on Saturday, which was a blast, literally. And the food all week was prime! I'm pretty sure I gained ten pounds... I'm so grateful for good family!
