Mom and Dad got into town on Thursday night and decided that they needed to unload a certain box out of the back of the truck to free up some space... Yeah, it was my Christmas present! And it was EXACTLY what I wanted... A drill press! After spending time with Dad making knives over Thanksgiving, this was definitely the next tool on my list for the shop. Lucky for me, I didn't have to wait long! Thanks, Mom and Dad! You never let me down with amazing surprises...
On Friday, Dad came over in the morning and we put together the drill press and started a few little projects on the teardrop trailer. Then we went to Mom's house and chainsawed some stumps and bushes. Then we chainsawed my stump! And since we were already warmed up, we chainsawed our kitchen deck off too. Haha. We are planning on replacing it this coming spring or summer and it's a good thing too. It was starting to rot pretty bad. Sure was fun taking it down! I love my chainsaw...
Saturday was Christmas Eve and the women spent all day in the kitchen (bless them!) preparing delicious food for Christmas dinner. Dad wanted to take Jeremy to Cabela's so the three of us took a drive down and had a great time. Jeremy and Ammon both added to their camo collection and Jeremy came home with a brand new pop gun he named "Johnny Popper." Hahaha. That place is the best.
Christmas Eve was spent with Amber's family at her mom's house. We had a wonderful time. They have always had a very special Christmas Eve tradition and I can't help thinking about the years we were able to have her dad there with us. I miss him a lot, but we all know he is still close, especially on nights like that.
After reading the scriptures, we opened presents. We all did quite well I think! Everyone got something they wanted, whether it was new socks for Rob, Nerf guns for Jeremy, or a new watch for me from Amber! (She spoils me.) This one has a compass built in so I'll never get lost (as if...) and always be able to find my way home! And Rob totally hooked me up with this AWESOME book on how to build backyard ballistics! Cannons, catapults, you name it! Oh man, I can't wait to build one. It's on, baby!
After we got back home, we put the boys to bed. Jeremy was already pretty tired. The little guy even fell asleep in the truck holding his gun! He definitely was excited, though. He put out milk and cookies for Santa and kept checking the chimney to see if anyone was coming down. Haha. Well, Santa didn't disappoint...
Yeah, as you can see, Jeremy was really stoked. It was so cool to see his and Ammon's reactions to their presents. I can see now more than ever before why Mom and Dad always worked so hard to make Christmas so special... because it's so much fun. :)
We played with toys for a while and ate a fantastic breakfast that Amber made and started getting ready for church. That's when Dad pulled out one more surprise...
Yeah, he made this leather coat for Jeremy! How legit is that?! It was awesome! That boy has one awesome grandpa, that's for sure. He even wore it to church. What a pair they make! Church was really great. We felt a wonderful spirit there and it was so good to be there on Christmas day itself to remind us all of the real reason for our celebrations. One of my scouts even carved me this CTR ring! These guys are just so cool... Coolest present ever.
We went back home and started opening the presents under the tree. There was so much going on that I forgot to take a lot of pictures! Haha. We all were very spoiled. As a joke, I thought I'd be funny and wrap up Tim's own "Rocky" collection of movies that he left here at our house. It was hilarious to watch his face as he opened them because it took him a minute to realize they were his. Then he got me back by wrapping up the electric ice scraper that Grandpa and Grandma had given him for his birthday. Jerk. Jk. It was awesome! He also gave me a sweet University of Utah ring!
I thought Amber had already given me my big present with the watch, but she too had a surprise up her sleeve. There was a bag under the tree with my name on it, full of tissue paper. After the tissue paper was a little sack, with something wrapped inside. I finally opened it up to see a gift card to get my truck completely detailed! The best part of all was the poem that was attached. I got all choked up reading it as she had written it from the boys' perspective. It was so cool. The perfect gift. Something I'd never ask for, but something she knew I'd love and needed. You're the best, babe. No contest.
We went up to Mom's house and had an amazing Christmas dinner and spent the rest of the day together. Had to imagine a more perfect Christmas. I'm just so grateful for the abundance in my life. Not things so much as abundance of love, good health, amazing friends, and the best family that anyone could ever hope for. And I'm so thankful for this incredible Plan of Happiness, whose centerpiece is Jesus Christ. What a blessing it is to know He lives, that this is His gospel upon the earth in its fullness, and that we have a prophet living today who speaks with Him and guides his people. I stand all amazed... Merry Christmas to all.
Awwwww. What a good Christmas. I love that picture of JEremy holding his presents - haha. Cutest little boys ever. and I have to tell you that the story below about dinner at your grandmas house was hilarious. Oh man, i was dying.
