Jake Turns 27...

One day, I woke up, and I had completed the 27 year of my life. Know what? It doesn't feel that much different. Haha. It sure was a great day, though! Here are some of the highlights:

Post-zoo hangover!

For dinner that night, we went to Texas Roadhouse. There was a bit of a mix-up with our reservation, so the manager let us get any appetizers we wanted! Legit!  The food was great and the company was exquisite. Rob, being the good brother-in-law that he is, made sure to remind the waitress that it was my birthday before we left. That's when the brought out the "birthday saddle." I realized at that moment that the purpose of the birthday saddle was to EMBARRASS the birthday person. That's when I decided that instead of embarrassing myself, I'd embarrass everyone else! Many crotches have straddled that saddle, but I OWNED that ride!

After dinner, we went home to enjoy some cake and ice cream. It was superb. I'm pretty sure nobody was more excited for cake than Jeremy! That boy loves his chocolate cake!

The night before my birthday, I was the last one to bed and as I went through the house, checking lights and doors and such, it just hit me: I'm SO lucky... SO blessed. I always knew this, of course, but it just hit me harder than it ever had before, especially when I got upstairs. I just sat in the boys' room and couldn't believe that they were ours. And then I went into the bedroom and saw Amber. She's better than I could ever hope for, much more than I deserve.
